Solution

In order to overcome the multi-faceted problems faced by Orange, Synthesio listened to analyzed online conversations for more than a year, identifying 5 of the most influential forums for the company, their major contributors, and client expectations. Synthesio’s analysts monitor, filter, organize, and analyze each conversation for sentiment (positive, negative, or neutral) to allow for actionable insights.

Results

The results obtained by Synthesio have allowed Orange to develop a new digital strategy for online communication that is focused around their consumers. They have already seen an ROI of “several million euros” since the implementation of Synthesio’s monitoring and analytical servies, and expect to see more soon. Orange has also used Synthesio to spot competitors’ offers that their customers wanted, like the Orange Open calling plan, and respond to customer concerns before they became a major problem.

Thanks to everyone that was able to attend the Monitoring Social Media Conference in New York City November 4, 2010.

#MSM10 buzzed on Twitter throughout the day

This past Thursday, we counted over 1,500 mentions of MSM10 on Twitter, with multiple attendees live-blogging the event and posting videos and pictures as well.

Chris Kieff live-blogged the sessions from:

Katie Delahaye Payne, on engagement and analysis:

“Measuring engagement is not about justifying your budget.  It’s not about measuring computers, it’s about measuring people and people are messy.”

“Content Analysis – really must be done by humans today and for the near future.  The mistaken pieces of  information picked up by the automatic system are numerous to go without being cleaned.  Any keyword set will produce erroneous results.”

Loic Moisand, on matching measurement with your brand’s personality:

“No more focus groups [are needed] anymore. Using social media you can gather the answers you need without asking the specific question, therefore alerting your competitors.”

“Boring brands” can become interesting. Compare the Meerkat is an example of a brand that made car insurance entertaining :

Corey Hartlen, on listening:

“How are you listening?

Why are you listening?

What can we learn with the listening we’ve done.  How do we turn it into actionable intelligence?”

Giles Palmer, on using Social Media marketing to drive traffic:

“If you start with a broad search, you then improve the searches and narrow down.  Distribute these reports to the organization and let people know that the data can’t be used to compare historically.  The important thing is to communicate the current state of the info.   Eventually lock the data down and don’t make any more changes unless its imperative to do so.”

All followed by a panel on using monitoring to Benchmark & Measure ROI

You can catch up on the afternoon sessions here, as well, including presentations from Chase McMichael of Infinigraph, Jodee Rich of PeopleBrowser, Seth Grimes on sentiment analysis, and a panel on the future of social media monitoring during which Loic le Meur said he “sees the future of social media monitoring becoming the main source for leads in sales.”

Synthesio keeps growing !

Social media monitoring is a field that is rapidly expanding as different tools enter the space. According to Forrester Research, “social media is the fastest-growing segment in the interactive marketing category” (AdAge).

And we’d have to say that we agree! A number of our clients started with free or do-it-yourself tools to monitor their online reputation, but soon realized that they wanted to dig deeper into information on the web, including forums, mainstream media, social networking sites, and sites in multiple countries and languages.

As a result we’ve recently doubled our offices in Paris and are excited to give you a glimpse of what they look like :

But what is monitoring social media without a little fun?

We couldn’t say no to a foosball table to join the Wii in our Synthesio game room ;)

If you haven’t yet visited Synthesio and are looking for multilingual social and mainstream web monitoring, get in touch, or send us a message on Twitter to see how we can help.

We are continually working with more native analysts in foreign languages to help you monitor your international brand’s online reputation.

Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon !

Social Media Monitoring updates from Synthesio: Advanced settings, Facebook, Influence Filter, etc.

As explained by our community manager above, all of our major widgets have been updated to include advanced settings:

  • including period selection
  • graph type selection
  • new country selection
  • one-click print button

As usual, these updates apply to Synthesio’s widgets in all languages, wether they be English, French, German, etc.

Also, we’re happy to announce that wall posts and comments from Facebook pages and groups will now also go directly into the Verbatim tab on your dashboards along with a thumbnail of related media. As Nestlé most recently showed us, your online reputation can be greatly impacted by what your customers are saying about you on Facebook. Social networks should be an integrated part of your marketing and communications strategies and therefore part of your listening.

Finally, you now have the ability to filter verbatim by influence using an easy-to-use interface : drag and drop the slider to the desired level of influence to immediatly update the list of verbatim. This will allow you to look at only the articles with that level of influence on up. Also, the level of influence for each individual post is also displayed in the top right-hand corner:

Synthesio welcomes Trey Pennington as US/UK Business Developer

Synthesio has had an international focus since its inception in 2006, initially monitoring in 5 languages and steadily growing its expertise to 30 languages, including Chinese and Russian. Faced with increasing demand from the US and the UK, it was time for us to welcome someone new to the team to help us have a physical presence in these countries. That someone is Trey Pennington.

Trey is not just an expert in social media but also a marketing pro, blog talk radio host, a well-known speaker, and an all-around great person.  He will be spending the next week in Paris at the Synthesio headquarters to learn the ropes and how we tailor our solutions to each individual client or partner.

We have several agency partners in the US and UK and are continually searching to expand our reach, offering customized services to professionals that need top-quality monitoring data and reports in order to be successful in their social media strategies.

International social media monitoring is a complex task, but we use a combination of human analysis and proprietary technology to provide the most complete reports possible. Human analysis is the only way to extract necessary information from online conversations that give our clients and partners a roadmap for where to go next.

Get in touch with Trey by email : trey@synthesio.com, Twitter, Facebook, or via his blog or any other means he has listed ;)
