About Synthesio

Synthesio (www.synthesio.com) is a web monitoring and research company that monitors online conversations in 30 languages and over 120 countries for international brands and agencies. Founded in 2006, they deliver high-end solutions with real-time dashboards and in-depth reports. With their proprietary technology plus a team of international native knowledge experts, the combine technology and human analysis for a comprehensive understanding of companies’ online reputations.

Synthesio keeps growing !

Social media monitoring is a field that is rapidly expanding as different tools enter the space. According to Forrester Research, “social media is the fastest-growing segment in the interactive marketing category” (AdAge).

And we’d have to say that we agree! A number of our clients started with free or do-it-yourself tools to monitor their online reputation, but soon realized that they wanted to dig deeper into information on the web, including forums, mainstream media, social networking sites, and sites in multiple countries and languages.

As a result we’ve recently doubled our offices in Paris and are excited to give you a glimpse of what they look like :

But what is monitoring social media without a little fun?

We couldn’t say no to a foosball table to join the Wii in our Synthesio game room ;)

If you haven’t yet visited Synthesio and are looking for multilingual social and mainstream web monitoring, get in touch, or send us a message on Twitter to see how we can help.

We are continually working with more native analysts in foreign languages to help you monitor your international brand’s online reputation.

Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon !

Social Media Monitoring updates from Synthesio: Advanced settings, Facebook, Influence Filter, etc.

As explained by our community manager above, all of our major widgets have been updated to include advanced settings:

  • including period selection
  • graph type selection
  • new country selection
  • one-click print button

As usual, these updates apply to Synthesio’s widgets in all languages, wether they be English, French, German, etc.

Also, we’re happy to announce that wall posts and comments from Facebook pages and groups will now also go directly into the Verbatim tab on your dashboards along with a thumbnail of related media. As Nestlé most recently showed us, your online reputation can be greatly impacted by what your customers are saying about you on Facebook. Social networks should be an integrated part of your marketing and communications strategies and therefore part of your listening.

Finally, you now have the ability to filter verbatim by influence using an easy-to-use interface : drag and drop the slider to the desired level of influence to immediatly update the list of verbatim. This will allow you to look at only the articles with that level of influence on up. Also, the level of influence for each individual post is also displayed in the top right-hand corner:

Social media monitoring and getting started

Synthesio welcomes Trey Pennington as US/UK Business Developer

Synthesio has had an international focus since its inception in 2006, initially monitoring in 5 languages and steadily growing its expertise to 30 languages, including Chinese and Russian. Faced with increasing demand from the US and the UK, it was time for us to welcome someone new to the team to help us have a physical presence in these countries. That someone is Trey Pennington.

Trey is not just an expert in social media but also a marketing pro, blog talk radio host, a well-known speaker, and an all-around great person.  He will be spending the next week in Paris at the Synthesio headquarters to learn the ropes and how we tailor our solutions to each individual client or partner.

We have several agency partners in the US and UK and are continually searching to expand our reach, offering customized services to professionals that need top-quality monitoring data and reports in order to be successful in their social media strategies.

International social media monitoring is a complex task, but we use a combination of human analysis and proprietary technology to provide the most complete reports possible. Human analysis is the only way to extract necessary information from online conversations that give our clients and partners a roadmap for where to go next.

Get in touch with Trey by email : trey@synthesio.com, Twitter, Facebook, or via his blog or any other means he has listed ;)

Calculate the influence of every post about your brand

After having developed a score of influence for all of the sites that make up our index, Synthesio has now adapted SynthesioRank to include each post that we analyze.

Our score of influence (SynthesioRank) ranks from 0 to 10 and will now take into account the real-time impact of each online post made about a brand: it is thus specific to each of our clients.

The calculation of SynthesioRank at post level is based on:

  • Type of post: direct communication with the brand (dedicated post) or conversational comment (simple mention)
  • Impact of post: number of times an article has been republished (in the case of a press article online) or number of comments (in the case of a blog post) or number of responses (in the case of a forum thread)

N.B. : the calculation of SynthesioRank at post level is dynamic, meaning that the score of influence can increase over time as an article is republished on different sites or new responses are added to a forum thread.

This new influence score will be progressively integrated into our dashboards and widgets.

Synthesio launches Hospitality to allow hotel brands to take control of their online image

Synthesio, a firm specialized in the analysis of online articles, comments and reviews, has just launched a new tool specially designed for hotel chains : Hospitality.

Already present among the large consumer brands, Synthesio has taken advantage of its monitoring expertise and technological foundation to address a sector rich in complexities.

One of the particularities of hotel management professionals is the wide range of services that they offer (overnight stays, restaurant service, recreational activities, pool and spa, etc.) that now also include the thousand and one services offered to increasingly demanding customers (handicapped accessibility, room service, group activities, etc.) without forgetting highly strategic points that may include the soundproofing of the rooms or the cleanliness of the bathrooms!

During the creation of Hospitality, the name given by Synthesio to its online monitoring tool, the difficulty was to be able to create an ergonomic and user-friendly solution given the large mass of information on topics as wide ranging as “fast check-ins”, “squishy beds” and “surly barmen”…

However, Synthesio has managed to do just this, as one of the most prestigious international hotel chains has recently agreed to use Hospitality to analyze the body of articles online relating to its various brands.

In fact, Hospitality, a true “automated focus group”, currently monitors thousands of internet users’ opinions that are published on a daily basis on more than 20,000 hotels and 40 hotel chains worldwide.

Thirty criteria of analysis are taken into account (comfort, cleanliness, location, service, etc.) and are compared with those of the competition.

In addition, the online dashboards of Hospitality display a ranking of the most popular hotels online. They also analyze rumors and trends associated with strategic decisions of the hotel management profession. Influencers (brand advocates and detractors) are identified in order to allow an immediate reaction, if necessary.

Lastly, due to their detrimental effects on the brand image of a group, extremely negative opinions are identified and reported via systematic alerts.

The innovative technologies developed by Synthesio offer marketing and operational managers the capacity to follow their brand image in real time on all forms of alternative and social media: discussion forums, blogs, consumer reviews and opinions, online shopping and booking sites (Booking.com, Expedia, Tripadvisor, etc.).

Loic Moisand, co-founder of Synthesio, maintains that “an article published on an influential site is capable of generating several hundreds of user comments in only a few hours. Warning a hotel early on gives it a chance to correct the problem, improve its service and prove to its clients its dedication to a quality experience.”

Synthesio launches the Chinese version of its site

Within the framework of expanding the multilingual monitoring capacities of our web monitoring platform (thanks to our R&D Universal Search Program that equally allows us to manage encoding in Japanese, Korean, Arabic, etc.), we would like to invite you to discover the new Chinese version of our corporate website!
